I don’t ask you directly to help me too often, as in the past I found this kind of hard thing to do. But I ‘m reading Amanda Palmer’s wonderful book The Art of asking, and now putting some of the things I learned from the book in to practice. If you find it hard to ask for help, I’d recommend you read this book 🙂
Since the beginning of the year I have been rehearsing with two of my friends for some live shows. We have few planned here in Dublin, but we also want to take things further. At the moment the realistic starting point outside Ireland for us is around Europe, due to the fact that the flights are cheaper and there are no work permits required. So for now we are looking into Some possible shows after the summer, autumn and early next year. But I need your help with this 🙂
There are few things you can help me with. First of all, it is important that we aim to play shows in places where we already have following. The best way for me to evaluate this at the moment is through social media. If I have certain amount followers on my Facebook, or Twitter page in for example in Brussels, this will help me to secure a booking in a venue, and hopefully get the people in the area to attend the show 🙂 So What I am asking you guys to do, is spread the word. Invite your friends to like my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jpkalliomusic and follow me on Twitter @jpkalliomusic. Also as many of you know, you can get four free tracks if you sign up to my mailing list HERE. So spread the word around and sooner we get the word around, the sooner we can come to play in your town 🙂
The other thing you can do is recommend us venues to play in your area. At the moment we are looking into smaller intimate listening venues, it’s better start small 😉 I also will be available for some solo house concerts, or even full band if your house is big and your neighbours are very understanding 😀
So there are some solid steps you can help us with, if you’d like to see us play live somewhere near where you live. Together we can make this happen.
