It’s a long way from Dublin to Hong Kong

Vlog 305 It’s a long way from Dublin to Hong Kong

The day for our next adventure had arrived. After some last minute shopping we made our way to the airport, flew over to London Heathrow and from there we boarded an Airbus 380 to Hong Kong. So for the next two weeks you can follow our adventure in South east Asia 🙂

Howth cliffs, my favourite walk

Vlog 290 Howth cliffs, my favourite walk

In today’s vlog I take you to Howth for my favourite walk around Dublin. It is hard to imagine that this magical place is only 30minutes outside Dublin city centre. An old friend of mine once said that one of the best things about Dublin is how easy it is to get out of it. After twenty years here, I fully agree. I love the city, but I love to get out of it as well, and on the cliff walk in Howth, you feel like you have been transported to hundreds of miles away 🙂

If you want to give this walk a try on your next visit to Dublin, just take 31, or 31a from Talbot street and get off at the Howth Summit. From there head down towards the light house and on the road down you will find a path on your left hand side that takes you to the cliffs and eventually to the Howth village. When you get there, if you have built an appetite, try the Brass Monkey for some great sea food 🙂

Where am I going next?

Vlog 279 Where am I going next?

In today’s vlog I talk about a resent trip one of the most famous daily bloggers out there FunForLouis took to North Korea and why I think he did the right thing. Then I talk about my next big trip to Hong Kong and Bali and ask your tips. I also look for some help for finding the perfect camera/traveling bag.

31st of July Vlog update

Vlog 259 31st of July 2016 Vlog update

So we have come to the end of the first week of vlogs from the Sliotar’s 2016 summer tour. It really has been a great week, both musically and when it comes to vlogging. Nothing teaches you more about filming and photography than traveling 🙂 Also you can get quite isolated from the world news when you travel, and this can be a good reminder that despite all, the world keeps spinning and the sun keep rising and setting. This can be a good reminder for all of us from time to time.

We still have another full week of tour vlogs ahead of us, so a lot more cool stuff to come. Also the plans for the next trip are in full swing already, but more on that shortly. Also I will dedicate a vlog for some of the lessons I’ve learned on this trip later when I get back home. But now, lets get into the cool stuff that got posted on the vlog this week.

This week’s song is a track about being apart from your loved ones, which is kind of relevant for me when I am on the road. Don’t forget that you can download this weeks song from my Bandcamp page as well. All the details are in the blog post below:

Thinking of you

The first vlog of the week was the beginning of our tour, where we make our way from Dublin to Plzen via Frankfurt. We also have a little snippet from our show in the Zach’s pub:

On the road again

In the second vlog of the week we make our way from Plzen to the beautiful Czech country town of Plumlov, where the wonderful Keltska Noc festival takes a place.    I try to capture for you the first day impressions of the festival, and some of the madness that went down during the Sliotar show:

The road to Keltska Noc

In the past years, Sliotar’s show has been on the second day of the festival, but this year as our show was already on Friday night, we had the full day off. The Saturday always starts with a session, where all the bands from the festival (who are around) are asked to take part. Not all do, but every year we got more and more people involved, so I started jokingly to call it the Plumlov Ceili band, it seems the name has stuck by now 😉

The Plumlov Ceili Band

Nothing is safe when J.P. is around 😉 Here is some of the madness from the organisers afterparty at the Keltska Noc festival:

Here’s what the festival organisers do after the festival is done

After the festival we made our way to a wonderful town of Kutna Hora. This was a day off for us and we used it just to be tourists for a day. Kutna Hora is amazing town and I hope I

Kutna Hora

This is something you don’t see everyday, before we leave the Kutna Hora behind we visit the Bone Church. Then we make our way to Prague, where we play a show with the wonderful Hakka Muggies in the Vagon Klub.

This is something you don’t see every day

So that concludes the first week of Vlogs from Sliotar’s 2016 summer tour, have you guys been enjoying them? I’d love to hear your feedback. Before I let you go,  just a little bit of house keeping.  If you enjoy what I do and want to support me, please consider supporting my Patreon campaign. Patreon is a great platform that connects the makers of the art with their audience directly. And by supporting your favourite artists directly, you make sure the artist can keep on making art in the artists terms, not some rules set out by record label big shots, or book publishers to make the art bland enough to try to please every one, but in the end not really fulfilling anyone. Thanks for sticking around and we have another full week of tour vlogs ahead of us, so keep tuning in 🙂

Vlog 82 Lisbon to Dublin

All things must come to an end. Our short trip to Lisbon definitely felt too short. But at the same time, I’m sure we will be back soon for more as we absolutely fell in love with the city. This vlog is our journey back from Lisbon to Dublin and straight back to work for me in the Porterhouse 🙂 But I am glad I got to share the trip with you guys. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions, they really made our trip that extra bit special.

Now I’ll be based in Dublin for the next few months. I have a desperate house hunt ahead of me, as I need to be out of our current home by the end of the month. But this short trip did charge the batteries just enough to take on this task. Oh yeah, and we do have some more amazing trips planned for this year 😉

Vlog 81 Castle, rooftops and cobblestones in Lisbon

This was our last day in Lisbon on this trip. We wanted to capture as much as possible, so we headed out early geared up with our walking shoes. We started the day with Santa Justa Elevator. Let me just say, that if you are planning to visit Lisbon, get the daily travel ticket for €6. You can travel on Metro, trams, bus, some ferries and the Santa Just a Elevator. The ticket for the elevator alone is €5! So for an extra €1 you get to use all the transport of the city.

After the tower we headed across the Baixa and climbed all the way up to the San Jorge castle, which has an amazing views of the city. We also stopped for lunch in Cruzes Credo, which is a casual looking restaurant, but the food is excellent! Then before making our way to the Praca do Comercio to watch the sun set, we stopped for a quick coffee and a Pastel de nata, which is traditional Portuguese egg tart pastry.

Vlog 79 Sausage on fire

There seems to be so much to film here in Lisbon, that to compress a day into one vlog is just impossible 😀 So today’s vlog is the second part of our first day. This is our night out, us checking out the beautiful sunset on the banks of river Tagus, wondering around the Praca do Comercio, and then we adventure into the Alfama quarter, which is the oldest part of the city. There we try to some lovely food, and eventually stumble into a tavern that has some Fado music.

Hope this gives you another sample of this wonderful city. So much more still to come 😉

Vlog 78 What should we do in Lisbon?

So here we go, out secret trip has started. We are is Lisbon! Today I have an ask for any of my friends who either are from Lisbon, live there or have been to Lisbon. Let us know what we should see, do, eat and drink. We do our best to check out as many of your suggestions as possible.

I came to realise very fast that there is so much to film here, that we might need to fit this trip into several features. So here is the first instalment. Let me know what you think.

Vlog 57 Ryanair to Dublin town

And here is the very last vlog from our holiday trip to Poland. It is one of those in the transit vlogs. But I hope you will enjoy it. Absolutely massive thank you to Peter and Wiola for taking such a good care of us, for being so cool about me filming, or taking us around, even helping me to find the perfect places to capture the places we visited. Also big thank you to my girlfriends and Wiola’s parents for putting us up for Christmas, I know it is family and all, but I still need to say thank you. And thanks to all our friends in Poland for their generous hospitality. Can’t wait to see you all again soon 🙂 And the song on the vlog is this weeks song “Time Takes Its Toll.”

Now where do we go from here? Dublin for a little while anyway 😉

Vlog 56 Do you want to get fit in 2016?

Before I start, let me just say this: I am not a doctor, dietician, or a medical expert of any type. I just have been interested in this subject for a long time. And what I am trying to do in the first part of today’s vlog is to share with you what has worked for me. Always consult a doctor, before any drastic diet changes or exercise.

But if you want to get fit in 2016 and feel better, I’ll be sharing my tips once a week in the vlogs. Here is the first part.

After this I take you around Warsaw one more time. And we even get into taking about coffee 🙂 Check it out and let me know what you think.
