You Still Wonder

Domestic Violence When I share my story, people somehow feel more free to tell me about things that has happened in their life’s. Personally I love being able to do that, as I know how much it means when you have something you carry with you all the time, but suddenly someone takes the time to listen to. It’s the most simple thing, but it can make a world of difference.

Even though this weeks song has nothing to do with my story, it deals with a subject that gets me fired up quite fast every time I talk to a someone who’s lived through it. Domestic violence is still today a form of abuse that gets brushed under the carpet too often. I understand that the dominant person usually has an over bearing control over the abused person and this often makes the abused person scared to talk. But all too often there are other people around the situation who just turn a blind eye. Domestic violence should not be accepted in any circumstance, full stop!

We can make a difference if we openly talk about it. I think the power is in people sharing their experiences and letting others know they are not alone, that there is hope and life after that toxic relationship. Also I have noticed people who have been abused, too often blame them selves and cary the quilt with them even years later. It is not your fault.

I understand this is a sensitive subject and many victims would not feel comfortable sharing their stories and I respect that. But If you do want to make a difference and want to share your story, please do so in the comments below. And if you know some one this song would bring comfort to, please share it.
