13th of September Blog update

readyfortheholidayTomorrow morning I’ll be heading out for twelve days for some serious unwinding ๐Ÿ™‚ As a result, obviously I had loads of work to be done before I run away from everything. So to sum up my week, I have been spending the mornings and the afternoons recording, evenings playing sessions and shows, and nights writing blog posts ๐Ÿ˜€ So yeah, a busy week! Also yesterday I did an interview for a new music business podcast called Break The Business. I was stoked to be asked and had a blast doing it. I’ll post it on my blog as well when it comes out ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh yeah, that’s me in the picture all geared up and ready for the holiday ๐Ÿ˜€ So as I still have some packing to do, lest get straight in to this weeks lessons:

  1. This week I learned the importance of deep breathing and how you can utilise it to enhance your physical performance… Go figure…
  2. I learned that taking the time even for just a ten minute break here and there, which you can spend in any way you want, but I’ve used it to meditate, can have profound effect on your productivity.
  3. This is an ongoing lesson ๐Ÿ˜€ But patience, I little by little learn more about it ๐Ÿ˜‰
  4. Doing your homework pays off.

The blog was busy once again this week. There were few posts that came from the after math of last weeks horrendous news and the images of little three-year old Aylanโ€™s body being washed up on the shore in Turkey. I write from my heart, and often the writing can be as much me trying to make sense of it all. ย This weeks song “Love Is What We Need” was kind of culmination of it all. You guys have been great sharing the message, and please keep doing so. Check it out here:

Love is what we need

Monday I locked my self in my small home studio. It was a productive day, but at the end of the day time was running low before I had to be back in The Porterhouse for another Session. So instead of getting into a rushed blog post, I decided to just tell you guys exactly what was going on. But I also shared some music I’ve been in to a lot in the past few months ๐Ÿ™‚

Quick note from the studio and sharing some music

As an artist you need to be willing to put your heart on the line and expose your self. Read all about it in Monday’s Quick tip here:

Quick tip 171 Expose your self

Here are my thoughts on some personal turmoil I had to struggle with. I thought to share it with you guys as I am sure I’m not the only one who went through something like this in the past week:

True colours in the storm

This one was not really a “real” blog post, more of a Quick question I had about a vocal take. Your answers were valuable and really helped me with this weeks song “Love Is What We Need” But I decided to include it here anyway, as it was part of what went on during this week ๐Ÿ™‚

What should I do?

Here’s a quick reminder how the world around us is filled with inspiration. Sometimes all we need to do is open our eyes:

Quick tip 172 There are no limits to the source of inspiration

This particular blog post takes a look at how the music business is still changing. I feel quite strongly about the subject, so do me a favour and read it through:

Be fearless! Wednesdays Quick tip works almost as a short motivational speech for any artist:

Quick tip 173 Be fearless

I talked about the power of a story in the past, but this week I took a detailed look into how you should include your audience in your story. This is powerful stuff:

Involve your audience in your story

Lets try to change the way artists are treated in the new music business. Read more here:

As mentioned in my lessons of the week, here is why you should take some time to stop:

Quick tip 175 Take time to stop

There is a resent study conducted in Australia by the Vitoria University that highlighted a shocking rate of mental health problems amongst the entertainment industry. Here are some of my thoughts on the subject:

Entertainment industry is no place for the weary kind

So that concludes another week. Next week this time I’ll be possibly writing this post beside a pool, in a sunshine from the beautiful island of Ischia ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll be including travel related writing during the week, as well as my usual music business rants. So stay tuned, and have a great week.
