Quick tip 244 Backup plan

J.P.s Quick tipSo some of you know I have been dealing with a quite dramatic hard drive failure in the past few days. As I write this, I am sitting in a cafe next door to the “computer hospital,” waiting it to be “released.” I used to be pretty damn meticulous about backing up stuff, as I was recording stuff for other people, who were paying to do it. But somewhere along the way, I lost my focus… And I have no excuse, I even have a one terabyte Dropbox… But we live and we learn…

So first of all, I want you to learn from my mistakes, always back up your stuff! Especially your creative stuff, that hurts the most to lose. But even when you do backups of everything, things can and will still go wrong. So have an alternative plan. Figure even a rough idea of what you would do if all else fails. In my experience the best way to avoid failure is being prepared for the worst case scenario. This does not mean being scared of it, fear will only slow you down. This means knowing straight away what you are going to do when something goes wrong.
