Monday Motivation

When the dawn breaks and a new week begins, we search for hope, purpose and Monday motivation. The weekend is gone and we look forward to the next one. For some archaic reason, we feel like this a new beginning. The truth is, it is just another day.

But every day is special. For many of us, it takes a long time to learn this. Some of us learn it the hard way through illness, or loss of a loved one. Most of us just pass through the day without appreciating how lucky we are to be alive. Life at its best is fragile, and it can be taken away in a blink of an eye.

Today, instead of looking for that Monday motivation, just stop and take a deep breath. Fill your lungs with fresh spring air and look around. Pay attention to the light, and how it paints the world around you. Look at nature and how the season is coming along. Listen to the sounds of the city waking up, and try to hear the music within it. Today can be a great day if only allow it to be that. Have a great Monday.

2017

This weeks song will bring to and end the third year of songs. That is 156 songs in 156 weeks! I still remember the fear of taking on the 52 song challenge on in the first place. I kept asking my self what if I can’t do it? What if I fail? Looking back now, it seems like a silly fear, but at the time it felt real… But my desire to give it a go was stronger than the power of the fear and now we are three years later 🙂

A lot has happened in those three years. And I am sure most of us will particularly remember 2016 as a strange year… This weeks song “2017” is asking us not to lose hope, even when so many things around us might look grim at the moment. Tomorrow is another day, and 2017 is another year. As long as we as individuals don’t lose hope, we have chance.

The solution to what we see as the big problems in the world around us, rarely looks as black and white as we’d like to think. And often the big change starts from very humble beginnings, even just as a one persons thought. So don’t be scared to dream big in 2017. Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back. To fail at something can be scary, but to know that you at least gave it your best shot is something to be very proud of.

In the end, it is one of those brave attempts of “giving your best shot” at something that might just make a difference in someone’s life. It might even change the world in a small way. So if your dream is to start your own business, create something, travel the world, help others, care more, run 10km… In 2017, just go for it! I believe in you 🙂

And while you’re at it making your dreams reality, let this song be your soundtrack. Grab your self a copy from my Bandcamp page HERE. Also don’t be alone on this journey, share the song with like-minded people who might just be on a similar journey to realise their dreams. Lets make 2017 a great year!

Waiting for the sunrise

This weeks new song “Waiting for the sunrise” tells a story of a someone on a journey to discover their true calling in life. I am sure many of us have have been there. Most of us have been there. Finding your true calling can be hard, but mustering up the courage to go after it often feels nearly impossible.

Of course there were those kids back in school who always had a plan. They knew from the day one that they wanted to be doctors and heal the world. But in my experience, these are the people who end up being most disappointed with the reality of their day to day life later in the life.

For most of us it is a struggle to find our true calling. In fact, many of us fail. We decide to settle for what we see most people around us in the society settle for. The job is just a means to an end. It pays the bills, feeds the family and keeps a roof over your head. And don’t get me wrong, these are important things. If this is all you want from your life, then you have find your path.

But because so many of us settle for this, we convince our selves that the alternative is too hard, or even impossible. So we try to convince anybody who are going after their dreams and their true calling, that they are wasting time. You see, if they succeed, what does this make us? A failure?

In this weeks song “Waiting for the sunrise” our hero has take the hard road. They have decided to go after their true calling. But to do this, they had to silence the doubters by leaving it all behind. Even though I’m here to tell a story and sing you guys a song, there is a lesson here as well. If some one you love is determined to go after their dream, think twice before you decide to tell them how they should not. You might run a risk of pushing them away.

The song is up on my Bandcamp page and you can download it right now HERE. I do want you guys to have the song, but even more I want the song to make you think. And if it does, hit those shares and spread the message. Thanks for taking the time to stop by, you guys rock!

Have a little faith

I talk about this weeks song in a vlog, which you can check out HERE, but I get quite deep into the subject of songwriting. I’ll try to focus more on the actual content of the song in this blog post. So lets get started.

The society we live in places a lot of pressure on people. We are expected to get a good education, buy a house, have a family. All of these things are what we see as kind of stepping-stones for success. But in many ways, they are starting to be outdated. Right now the world around us is changing at a very high-speed. A good education is not a guarantee for getting a job anymore. Having a house does not provide the same security it used to, as most of it is owned by the bank, and all it takes is another downturn in the extremely volatile world economy for many of the house owners to lose it all. And some of us might not dream about having a family, as we might dream about seeing the world, or making a change through our careers.

These “dreams” are pushed on us from a very young age. Therefore too often we just go with it, without allowing ourselves to really dream about the things we want from our lives. This weeks song “Have a little faith” is about observing someone in this situation. Living a life that was designed for them, but does not fulfil them at all. It is a song about the slow realisation that we might be living someone else’s dream. And the song encourages us to have our own dreams, dream big and just go for it.

Lately this has become something I see all around me, so if the song does touch you, or you know someone in this situation, please share it with the world. You can grab yourself a copy of the song from my Bandcamp page HERE. As always, you can name your own price, or just put $0.00 in the price and you are good to go. Once again, thanks for reading, listening and downloading.

Heart on the line

One of the biggest pains in my life has been watching some one dear to me, who are very talented, being undervalued and disrespected in their work environment. I know I seem like an easy going nice guy, but there is an underlying stubborn kid in me, who is ready to rebel against anybody who try to tell me what to do. In my youth I did not know how to channel that rebellious spirit, but I am getting better at it 😉 And it has definitely been a driving force in my career.

So if you are stuck in a dead end job that you hate, but you believe it is all you know, let me question your faith. Let me ask you, in fact let me beg you to look outside the box. What is it that you really want to do? And what would it take to make it happen? I mean you probably work hard everyday, so how hard would you work if the thing you actually work on would be something for you? Here is a famous quote from Thoma Edison, which I love:

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” -Thomas A. Edison

So question what you know, dream big and believe that you can build your own life the way you want it to be. This is the way of the people who went on to change the world, but all you need to do is change your own life 🙂

Once again, the song is available to download right now from my Bandcamp page HERE. Name your own price, and if money is tight, just put $0.00 on the price and you are good to go 🙂 If the song resonates wth you, or some one you know might benefit from it, please share it wth them. And thanks for listening, you guys rock!

Crystal and Gold

I’m sure we all have a memory from our youth, where we had a dream to do something amazing with our life. We wanted to become a movie star, painter, or even a musician, I know I did 😉 But we all have that one relative, who like to remind us that this is not a realistic career path, and that we need to get an education and a real job. Does it sound familiar?

Now in the past twenty years internet has become a part of our every day life. And with this information highway, a lot more opportunities has opened up to pretty much anybody with access to internet. How many of us out there listened to that good meaning family member let our dreams slip away?

Obviously what they told us was what they were grown up to know as “the only way.” And it would have been hard to imagine how much our world would change in our life time. Dream big and never let go of that dream. Today, more than ever before anything is possible! And don’t forget, there are more wealth in this world of ours than just money.

If this weeks song is something you can relate with, head over to my Bandcamp page HERE and download a copy of this weeks song “Crystal and Gold.” Also if you think someone should ear the song, or you know someone who can relate to it, please feel free to share this blog post with them.

Don’t give up on your dreams

Vlog 285 Don’t give up on your dreams

In today’s vlog I talk about this weeks new song “Don’t give up just yet,” Which is very much a song about not giving up on your dreams, so I thought to keep the theme of dreams all through out today’s vlog. It was another rainy day, but still I headed out on a mission to capture some photos of this city, which you can see some of the results on my Instagram account HERE 🙂 I also briefly talk about the Rode VideoMicro and you can hear the results of it in use HERE.

Don’t give up just yet

In this week’s new song “Don’t give up just yet” I talk about dreams. I talk about how we let the excuse of “life” get on the way of trying to accomplish our dreams. We make excuses, as it is easier than going after our dreams. You see, success and dreams are usually hiding behind a mountain of hard work, and most of us just keep looking for the short cuts.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the conventional 9-5 life, if that is your dream. But what ever you dream is, you should put those excuses aside and go after your dreams. We all have a very short time on this planet. It is nobody else’s business to tell us how to live our life. And only you can make your dream come true.

So what is your dream? And what can you do today towards making it a reality? Don’t put it aside anymore. Don’t let excuses get on the way. You can do this!

I hope this song can be a soundtrack for you making your dreams happen, so go grab a download of the song from my Bandcamp page HERE. And share the song with anybody who you think could do with some inspiration 🙂 And thank you for taking the time to listen.

Quick tip 258 Make a plan

J.P.s Quick tipSo we have committed to fresh start and getting organised. Now it is time to make a plan. What is it that you want to achieve in 2016? Be realistic, but at the same time ambitious. Know your limits, and then push them just that little it extra. You can do this!

Write down where you are now in your career, and where you want to be by the end of the year. Then figure out a step by step plan how to get there. If your goal is something you don’t know how to achieve, then that is exactly where you should start. The first step should be to educate your self in the topic. Once again the information age makes all this achievable. Do your research online, ask help from the people who have done something similar in the past. Don’t wait around for the magic ferry to hand it to you. Make a plan and make it happen.
